Def Leppard killed it...Journey not so much

Def Leppard’s performance was like a fine wine...getting better with time. Journey’s performance on the other hand reminded me of a cheap wine cooler that you had to settle for because everything else was grabbed out of the cooler already. DL had the house rocking as loud as I have ever heard. Everybody enjoying the experience together... then Journey took the stage...very disappointing to say the least. The guitar was so overpowering, not to mention every other song was a force fed 10 minute guitar solo. The problem is not the lead singer in this group (Arnel does decent, but says “F-it” when he sings Faithfully with abnormally long pronounciation of the time honored lyrics we are all use to). The problem is the huge ego of Neil the lead guitarist...no wonder Steve left the band. Just as soon as we would start getting into the song... here comes another ear bleeding guitar solo, ruining the flow of the set. ... Read more

5 ⭐️:Steve Miller and Def Leppard: 0=Journey

Steve Miller and Def Leppard: spectacular: great sound, great interactions with audience.great musical show voice and instrumentally wonderful. Journey: huge disappointment. Everything was turned up to a loudest of loud, too many guitar solos no one wanted to hear. Band and equalizers up so loud it was extremely difficult to even understand the screaming *new lead singer Arnel Pineda. He had a punky awful, trying to hard to be popular stage presence that didn’t work at all. We heard great things about him and it was just awful. I don’t know if he was having an off night, as we had never heard him before, but bring Steve Perry back! Totally understand why Steve wouldn’t want to be around the self indulgent over playing of the guitar solos…annoying. Just sing the songs! And it was embarassingly awful. We left after a few songs because we were afraid our ear drums were going to be damaged between the loud volume of everything on stage and the atrocious singing, I mean yelling . ... Read more

Def Leppard ***** Journey **

I am a HUGE fan of both groups. Last night, I just couldn't. Journey was a huge disappointment. Their sound was equally just as messed up as their singing, too many solos (very uninteresting), no one wanted to sit through almost an hour of instrumentals. I have to hand it to the kid, he really tried although he looked like he was on something, couldn't get all the words out correctly nor hit the notes. Obviously no one can live up to "the original". Def Leppard on the other hand, were just as amazing last night as they were 30-35 years ago. They played last and absolutely stole the show. Hopefully next time they play together Journey goes on last so i know I won't have to suffer through their set and can get home at a decent hour. We were on the floor, nine rows back, but we didnt see much without straining because of where they were located. Far left side adjacent to the stage. Do not bring children unless you want them subjected to marajuana smoke and drunks. (Petco Park). 9/24/18 ... Read more
