I had a great time. This was my first live comedy show and Ali delivered! I would like to shout out Andromeda who opened, and if anybody knows the guy that went on right before Ali, please tell me his name!
Ali Siddiq, a Star from Houston - TX
Ali Siddiq has a cult following in Houston and is starting to gain country-wide traction on large comedy podcasts and with his latest specials on YouTube. When I was in college in Houston, my treat was to join Ali Siddiq at his Tuesday night showcase at the Houston Improv. There were a few comedians to open and middle. Oftentimes I was still in the audience at 1 am listening to Ali after 2.5 hours. Those were the best shows. I have since moved up to Cincinnati and cannot wait to see him here. The way he tells stories and gives his humble perspective on life is therapeutic in a way. If you just sit and listen you walk away better for it. If you want to watch a comedy show where the comedian takes heavy punches at political topics to try and sway the audience one way or another, this isn't the show for you. If you want a humble dude with great stories and perspectives that are hard to encounter in everyday life, come to the show. You will not regret a minute of it.
ALI SIDDIQ IN KANSAS CITY, MO. OCT. 7 2023
So disappointing an experience: The venue, Club Improv, does a bait & switch to the customers. They advertise their VIP seats as a "2-person shared table". The plain meaning of those words is that 2 people share a table. However they put a totally different meaning to those words when you get there. Instead, what they do is force customers to share a table of four. Club Improv also packs the people at the tables like sardines in a can. Not a good arrangement in the era of covid. Ali Siddiq was more goofy-acting than comedic. He stayed away from substantive material like the prison system, social justice matters, his business dealings, and more. This might have been due to the political climate that he performed in. :(
