Nashville Opera - Rigoletto at Andrew Jackson Hall

Why see Nashville Opera - Rigoletto?

A Bold New Modern Spin On Rigoletto

A whirlwind of jealousy, vengeance and sacrifice, Verdi's cherished tragic opera Rigoletto has it all - a thrilling story and immediately recognisable music, including the stunning canzone La donna e mobile (Women abandon us). The action is brought forward into modern times during John Hoomes exciting new adaptation at the Nashville Opera, playing at TPAC's Andrew Jackson Hall for two performances only this spring.

Conducted by Dean Williamson, Rigoletto is given a gritty film-noir twist and transports audiences to a world of the jet set and seedy back room bars. The titular wise-cracking mafioso finds he is powerless to protect his pure and beautiful daughter from the lecherous attentions of his boss, Duke. Embarking on a harrowing journey, Rigoletto leaves a spiral of bloodshed and dark intrigue in his wake when he sets out to avenge his kin.
